Hope Construction Materials website

Britain’s major new entrant into the construction materials sector establishes its online presence

HOPE Construction Materials – the major new entrant into the UK cement, concrete, aggregates and asphalt sector, created following the acquisition by Mittal Investments of the portfolio of divested sites by Tarmac and Lafarge – have established an online presence with the launch of their website (www.hopeconstructionmaterials.com).

In its current form, the website provides a brief details about the new company, including its key products and services, a full listing of all its locations, details of its sustainability agenda, and useful contact phone numbers.

 

Also included on the site are further details of the Hope Construction Materials management team, which, as reported previously, is led by chief executive officer Chris Plant. He was managing director of Lafarge UK’s asphalt and surfacing businesses until 2010, when he became vice-president of health & safety for Lafarge’s Aggregates & Concrete division worldwide.

Dallas Taylor has been appointed as chief finance officer. He was previously with Anglo American where he was group financial controller for Tarmac with responsibility for policies, consolidation, performance reporting and compliance across the Group’s international business.

Simon Phillips has been appointed as managing director – concrete, aggregates and asphalt. He has extensive commercial and operational experience in the industry, built over 24 years with Tarmac, most recently as executive director. 

Mike Cowell has taken on the role of managing director – cement. He was previously general manager of Lafarge’s cement business in Bangladesh, and more recently head of the joint-venture separation team for Lafarge.

Jim Verity has been designated as human resources director. He has more than 25 years’ experience across all aspects of human resources in a number of blue-chip companies, including two periods of employment with Tarmac. He has been human resources director for Lafarge’s aggregates, concrete and asphalt operations in the UK since 2007.

Finally, James Stirk has been appointed as legal director. He joined Tarmac as M&A and commercial lawyer in 1987, becoming head of legal and company secretary of Tarmac’s Quarry Products division in 1989. During his 25 years with Tarmac, he has been responsible for executing the legal aspects of corporate strategy.
