Collard Group make first move into quarrying

Family-run business completes acquisition of 40-acre quarry in Eversley, north Hampshire

COLLARD Group, a Hampshire-based, family-run leader in demolition, waste management, recycling, aggregates and ready-mixed concrete, now own and operate a 40-acre quarry in Eversley, allowing the business to quarry its own primary aggregates for the first time.

Following the purchase of 40 acres of land in Eversley, north Hampshire, in 2024, Collards have now concluded the purchase of the ready-mixed concrete and aggregate wash plant on the site, adopting the day-to-day operation of the quarry with immediate effect.

The acquisition strengthens Collard Group’s position in the aggregates and ready-mixed concrete markets. Their primary aggregates will be supplied to construction industry customers as well as directly to the company’s ready-mix concrete plants and blended with its recycled aggregates, further enhancing Collard’s highly efficient closed-loop business model.

Located adjacent to their existing urban aggregates recycling facility, the deal expands Collard Group’s total Eversley footprint to more than 70 acres, including their fleet and plant workshops, waste-recycling centre and headquarters, marking a significant milestone in the company’s long-term growth strategy.

‘This is a game-changing milestone for our business and a major step in our ongoing expansion of ready-mixed concrete and aggregates products,’ said Robert Collard, founder and chief executive officer of Collard Group. ‘Being able to quarry our own primary aggregates allows us to supply both of our concrete plants more efficiently and reinforces our commitment to self-delivering all of our services.’

Collard Group entered the ready-mix market seven years ago with the opening of two strategically located plants: one in Eversley, serving the north of Hampshire, and one in Nursling, near Southampton, serving the south. The new quarry acquisition strengthens the company’s ability to supply these plants with a reliable stream of high-quality primary and recycled materials.

‘By combining primary aggregates from the newly acquired quarry with the recycled materials we process every day, we are able to further enhance our sustainability credentials,’ added Mr Collard. ‘It connects our recycling operations directly with our concrete and aggregate production, giving us even greater control over quality, efficiency, and environmental impact.’
