Volvo machine duo for Goody Demolition
Kent-based contractor adds two new Volvo E-Series excavators to its demolition fleet
GOODY Demolition have continued their long association with Volvo CE with the purchase of two new E-Series excavators for their machinery fleet. Ashley Ovenden, plant manager for Goody Demolition, commented: ‘Our past experience when it comes to operating Volvo excavators is extremely positive. The machines are built to a high standard and they are certainly robust enough for the demolition applications we undertake while their reliability has been equally impressive.’
Joining the company’s fleet of predominant Volvo excavators, the new EC250E and EC300E models are equipped with eight-litre Volvo engines (Stage IV Final-compliant) that develop 213hp and 240hp, respectively.
The EC250E has been specified for secondary demolition duties and is equipped in standard backacter configuration, while the EC300E unit has been supplied with a modular boom joint, a 22m three-piece demolition rig and a straight boom.
The modification work on the EC300E excavator was carried out by Ipswich-based Messrs Kocurek which also included: a tilting cab with a heavy-duty falling object guard (fog); and more cassette type counterweight for maximum stability. The machine has a 2.5-tonne tool and attachment bracket.
The EC250E unit has been supplied with heavy-duty belly plates, side impact guards, fog guarding to the cab and further guarding to the bucket cylinder. Both machines have been supplied with twin lock quick-hitches, full guarding around the superstructures and additional hydraulic circuits to provide grab rotation for a whole array of attachments, including shears, grapples and pulverizers.
The Volvo Care Cab on both excavators offers a large roomy interior with plenty of legroom and foot space. The excellent all-round visibility is enhanced by pressurized and filtered cab air supplied by a 14-vent, climate-control system.
An adjustable easy-to-read LCD colour monitor provides real-time information of the machine functions, key diagnostic information and a wide variety of work tool settings. The monitor also doubles as a screen for a rear-view camera.
