Hewden launch next-day delivery guarantee

Hewden's plant hire fleet

National plant and equipment hire firm introduces next-day delivery on core fleet of 30 product lines

HEWDEN, the national plant and equipment hire specialists, are offering next-day delivery on their core fleet of 30 most-hired plant and access product lines, anywhere in the UK, backed by a £100 guarantee.

After analysing more than 100,000 hire transactions, Hewden were able to identify their 30 most popular plant and access product lines (pictured), which include excavators, telehandlers, dumpers, rollers, scissor lifts and telescopic booms.

Any orders from the core fleet placed before midday are guaranteed to be delivered before noon the following day, anywhere in the UK. Orders placed between midday and 5pm will be delivered before 5pm the next day.

If Hewden fail to deliver within the guaranteed times, customers will automatically receive £100 credit.

To ensure that products continue to be readily available for customers, the company has recently enhanced its core fleet with a £1.3 million investment in 8-tonne 308C excavators from Caterpillar, 22-tonne JS220 excavators from JCB, and 9-tonne front-tipping dumpers from Thwaites.

Commenting on the launch of the next-day delivery guarantee, Hewden’s chief executive officer, Kevin Parkes, said: ‘I am very aware that, at times, we have been guilty of over-promising and under-delivering, and this needs to change. I am also very confident that we have the scale of assets, depots and delivery vehicles to meet the core fleet guarantee.

‘We have invested heavily in these 30 product lines to ensure there are more than 5,000 items covered by our core fleet guarantee throughout the UK, and our new system provides live visibility of our whole asset base from any depot.’

The launch comes on the back of Hewden’s recent investment in a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, which provides the company with full visibility of its asset base by the minute, and its move to a strategically placed hub-and-spoke depot structure, which provides nationwide coverage.

Mr Parkes continued: ‘In the first month after the guarantee went live, we delivered 1,980 items of equipment from the core fleet and were late on only 15 occasions - a success rate of more than 99%.’

Looking ahead, Hewden say they plan to roll their core fleet out to other items of equipment based on customer requirements. For any items not currently covered by the core fleet guarantee, the company will advise customers on the earliest availability.
