Holcim UK and Fuelre4m announce largest clean fuel technology rollout in UK construction
HOLCIM UK have announced the national rollout of a fuel-reforming technology developed by Fuelre4m, across more than 200 sites throughout the UK. This follows three years of rigorous, real-world testing, during which the solution consistently improved fuel efficiency and helped reduce emissions across Holcim’s operations.
The agreement marks the first time this kind of fuel treatment has been introduced at commercial scale in the UK construction and quarrying sectors.
Edern Lalanne, Holcim UK supply chain director, commented: ‘This agreement is the result of meticulous testing, collaboration, and operational learning. We have seen consistent results with Re4mx across a wide range of use cases, and it aligns directly with our commitment to sustainable innovation and operational excellence.
‘This is about measurable outcomes, not promises, and Fuelre4m have delivered both the data and the support to back it up. This is part of our mission to make sustainable construction a reality and continues our journey to achieve net zero by 2050. The introduction of low-carbon fuels is a key part of this strategy.

During trials, Re4mx helped achieve:
A 15–20% drop in fuel use
Up to 23% fewer emissions from fuel burned, including CO2, NOx, and particulate matter
Improved combustion quality and smoother engine performance, including lower exhaust temperatures
Zero disruption to operations, no engine changes, no downtime, and no retrofit required
Greater consistency and predictability in fleet fuel performance.
Holcim tracked the impact using standard fuel flow and engine data-monitoring tools, ensuring the results reflected real working conditions.
Re4mx will be delivered in pre-measured containers and dosed directly into on-site fuel systems across more than 200 UK locations. The entire rollout has been designed for ease, speed, and zero disruption, allowing Holcim teams to integrate cleaner combustion into daily operations without altering infrastructure or workflows.
Fuelre4m are currently ramping up production for the national rollout. Manufacturing is under way, with shipments to the UK beginning once production is complete. From there, Re4mx will be distributed site-by-site across Holcim’s network, through Fuelre4m’s VIRDIS (Virtual Distribution) system, in preparation for full dosing from 1 September 2025.
In parallel, Fuelre4m are working closely with Holcim to tailor and implement the digital infrastructure behind the programme. This includes a powerful AI-enabled dashboard that ensures full traceability, real-time accountability, and blockchain-based verification at every stage. The system is designed to support Holcim’s ESG and operational goals, while setting a new benchmark for transparency in clean fuel deployment.
Rolling out Re4mx supports Holcim UK’s wider commitment to building progress for people and the planet. As part of Holcim’s global drive to decarbonize construction and lead in circular building practices, this programme addresses Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions through practical, immediate improvements in fuel performance. It complements Holcim’s broader ambition to build a net-zero future through innovation, circularity, and smart operations. The system also integrates with Holcim’s logistics network and is designed to scale easily across operations.

Rob Mortimer, chief executive officer of Fuelre4m Group, said: ‘We are proud to formalize our partnership with Holcim UK after more than three years of on-the-ground testing. This contract is not just about supplying product; it is about delivering integrated solutions. From inventory management and digital oversight to emissions tracking and site-level service, our focus is practical decarbonization with immediate operational impact. Holcim have set a clear benchmark for commitment and leadership in this space.’
This partnership makes Holcim UK the first in the global group to implement Fuelre4m’s high-efficiency combustion technology at national scale, setting a new standard for measurable decarbonization across the construction industry. The two companies are also exploring how to extend this impact to additional transport and logistics providers across the wider construction supply chain.
Fuelre4m’s Re4mx solution is currently available in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, supported by the company’s full logistics and digital network.
