Hitachi Construction Machinery UK celebrate twentieth anniversary at HQ in the North East

THIS month marks 20 years since Hitachi Construction Machinery UK (HCMUK) moved from their Bridgewater location to their current headquarters in Hebburn as HM Plant, before changing their name to Hitachi Construction Machinery UK in 2014. This move reflected the company’s commitment to supporting our growing customer base as well as enabling more efficient and cost-effective importation of machinery via the North Sea from Hitachi’s factories in Amsterdam, Oosterhout, and Japan.

This dedicated production facility continues to provide a recently upgraded environment to meet the needs of the company, which in recent years has also seen the expansion into the adjoining facility. Across the two sites, the unified 12-acre site provides the foundation needed to innovate, collaborate, and continue to provide customer-focused solutions for standard, specialist, and large machinery, including the rapidly expanding Hitachi Connected Technology division, which was previously located at the Port of Tyne depot.

HCMUK say the integration of these two sites has not only enabled expansion, but also enhanced quality, productivity, and planning capabilities, allowing them to deliver an even higher standard of service to customers.

David Roberts, chief executive officer of HCMUK, commented: ‘Since establishing our headquarters in the North East, HCMUK have grown significantly right across the UK and Ireland, requiring more branches and significantly more people to support that growth. Aligning our values with those of our employees has been a critical part of our success over the past 20 years, where our team help customers thrive, in an environment that fosters collaboration and innovation in every service we provide.

‘Testament to this is the fact that we have several employees who continue to work for the business 20 years on, and we continue to welcome employees, customers, and suppliers to a space that truly represents our values and our dedication to them, where the company and our employees work toward the same mutual successes, including our vision to be a class-leading solutions partner.’
