Eurovia add Etnyre chipper spreader to UK fleet

Etnyre chip spreader

US-built chipper spreader set to revolutionize surface-dressing operations across UK roads

EUROVIA Specialist Treatments, part of Eurovia UK, have strengthened their armoury with the introduction of a new customized Etnyre chipper spreader from the US.

One of only five in the UK, the self-propelled high performance surface-dressing machine has the added bonus of being the first to feature the low-emission 260hp Tier IV Cummins engine.

The unit has also had its design optimized to suit the UK-specific requirements of Eurovia Specialist Treatments, a team from the UK having worked with Etnyre to develop the operating parameters and enhanced health, safety and environmental compliance of this particular machine.

With the capability to spread aggregate across carriageways up to 6.1m wide – a 30% increase on Eurovia’s current maximum width, the Etnyre chipper spreader’s on-board advanced computer controls the rate of spread of the chippings for improved material usage.

Also, the speed of the surface-dressing process can be varied, improving efficiency on roads where the machine can be fully extended.

More minor and rural roads can now be treated in one pass, helping to minimize the number of joints in the newly applied surface dressing and limiting road traffic closures.

Eurovia Specialist Treatments have also worked with ACMAR to develop surface-dressing spray tankers that allow a controlled bitumen emulsion spray application of more than 6.2m, thereby allowing the entire surface-dressing process to be achieved in a single pass.

Divisional director Paul Goosey said: ‘The continuing investment in and development of our specialist treatment fleet keeps us at the forefront of innovation and improved functional life of our processes within the specialist treatments market, as we look for new opportunities to continue improving production, delivery and safety.’
