Myles Lee

Former CRH chief executive officer appointed as an independent non-executive director

BABCOCK, the UK’s leading engineering support services company, have announced the appointment of Myles Lee as an independent non-executive director, with effect from 1 April 2015. He will also serve on the board’s remuneration, nominations and audit & risk committees.

Mr Lee (pictured) was chief executive officer of CRH plc between 2009 and 2013. Having joined CRH in 1982, he became finance director in 2003 after serving in a number of roles and management positions.

CRH are one of the world’s leading building materials companies with a business spanning 35 countries, including North America and Europe, and with a growing presence in Asia.

The company grew rapidly by acquisition outside its original domestic base in Ireland to become a FTSE 100, New York and Irish Stock Exchange listed company with revenue of around €19 billion in 2014.

Mr Lee, who holds a degree in civil engineering and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, is also a non-executive director of Ingersoll Rand, who are listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Babcock’s chairman, Mike Turner, said: ‘We are very pleased that Myles has agreed to join us at Babcock. I have no doubt that his background and experience in a company that has grown from one originally focused largely on a domestic market into a major international operator will be of great value to us.’
