Candidates sought for chair of MPQC Council and technical education pillar lead roles

ESTABLISHED in 1983, the Mineral Products Qualification Council (MPQC) is a not-for-profit organization that supports industry to ensure a safe, competent, and sustainable workforce. It does this through setting and maintaining standards and qualifications and ensuring quality training and assessment.

MPQC is currently looking to fill two voluntary positions to help drive and steer the positive work it does.

Chair of MPQC Council

The chair of MPQC council manages and facilitates four meetings per year, engaging and involving a wide range of industry stakeholders. The role involved leading and chairing Council, ensuring members are informed and consulted on the MPQC strategy and workstreams, including skills, standards, awards, Minerals Matter, and Connect. The chair acts as a liaison between Council and the board, providing a quarterly progress update to board members on council outputs.

MPQC is looking for a professional person from industry, with strong communication and engagement skills, and an ability to chair meetings effectively and drive positive outcomes. Knowledge of current and future industry skills challenges, qualifications, and vocational training needs and provision would be an advantage.

The estimated time commitment for this role is 4h per month, including meeting preparation and attendance.

Technical education pillar lead

This voluntary position works alongside two other Minerals Matter pillar leads; future careers and standards and assurance. The technical education pillar lead provides strategic input and oversight for industry training and development needs and the identification of suitable qualifications and training provision that align with Industry National Occupational Standards. The pillar lead will provide leadership with delivery supported through the MPQC team and industry task and finish groups.

MPQC is looking for an individual with a strong training and development background, an understanding of current industry qualifications and training provision, knowledge of the National Occupational standards and their relevance to standard development, training needs/gap analysis and career mapping.

The estimated time commitment for this role is 4–8h per month.

Full role profiles for both positions can be found on the MPQC website at: www.mp-qc.org
