New version of company’s leading hydraulic tracked jaw crusher raises productivity bar even further

USING the most up-to-date manufacturing and design techniques, whilst working alongside a respected and worldwide customer and distributor network, has enabled Screencore to develop products with the latest modern features required by the market. This design philosophy has allowed the Northern Ireland-headquartered company to introduce a new version of its leading hybrid tracked jaw crusher, the Screencore XJ Dual-Power.

With their many years of experience in the aggregates and material-handling industries, Screencore have continually refined and developed their offering, which now includes the latest iteration of the company’s next-level tracked jaw crusher. This hybrid development adds accuracy, production capability, fuel efficiency, environmental credentials, and crushing performance to its already impressive features.

The new XJ Dual-Power is a development of Screencore’s bestselling diesel-electric 1,000mm x 650mm (40in x 27in) jaw crusher. This ultra-modern hybrid-powered crusher has been purpose designed for the processing of minerals and recycling construction materials in a compact and easily transportable form.

The new XJ’s innovative features include an updated jaw level sensor, refined electric plug-in (genset or mains), state-of-the-art push-button hydraulic CSS wedge adjustment, and a bolted mainframe jaw construction. In addition, for inner-city material recycling operations, the crusher is equipped with an updated dust-suppression system, overband magnet, and an optional deflector plate.

‘The new and updated XJ Dual-Power uses the latest technological advances to deliver a refined and improved compact crusher. It also represents continuous customer feedback and extensive research,’ said Screencore director Ciarán Ryan.

‘This feedback has been taken on board to deliver productivity combined with environmental performance, with the XJ able to use mains electricity as power, as well as provide the power for other attached screens or stockpilers. With its low transport height and length, and rapid set-up time (less than 10 mins), the XJ may be easily moved between sites for maximized operational flexibility, making it ideal for rental companies and businesses with a number of production sites.’

Recently, Screencore introduced the first of a range of Dual-Drive stockpiling conveyors. These are manufactured with a unique conveyor drive system, which can easily switch from an electric drive motor on one side of the conveyor to a hydraulic drive motor on the opposite side.

This capability allows operators to choose the most suitable and readily available power source, all while enjoying the convenience of a fully tracked mobile unit. Through refining the operation, the Dual-Drive now allows the stockpilers – and other members of the Screencore range – to be connected to the electrical outlet of the Dual-Power XJ jaw crusher. This means the attached machine can run efficiently at virtually zero additional cost, offering a cost-effective solution for materials handling.

‘The intelligent integration on our new Dual-Drive stockpilers and Dual-Power crushers can be extended to other crushers or screens with spare electrical capacity, eliminating the need for an extra engine and significantly contributing to carbon reduction. As well as providing an environmentally focused and a flexible, efficient solution for customers, it also ensures that crushing, screening, and stockpiling operations are more cost effective and efficient,’ added Mr Ryan.

Screencore say they are dedicated to driving innovation with a focus on sustainable practices, their aim being to not only enhance operational flexibility for customers, but also contribute to environmental preservation and provide customers with real choice. To this end, the XJ Dual-Power is now constructed, where possible, from components derived from the circular economy, with the Screencore factory making use of sustainable power sources as well as recycling as much of the production process as is possible.

This emphasis on sustainability and the circular economy extends to the XJ Dual-Power in order to maximize customers’ investment. ‘In line with our design philosophy, the Dual-Power XJ comes packed with a range of user-friendly features including remote-control feeder, remote unblock facility, as well as hydraulic fold-and-lock Hardox hopper sides. While all our models are available in Dual-Power format, our crushers (including the smaller XL model) come with features built-in, offering several distinct advantages over traditional diesel/hydraulic crushers,’ said Mr Ryan.

He concluded: ‘A major feature of the XJ Dual-Power is its miserly fuel consumption, which even when powered by diesel is in single digits for litres/h. It is even lower when running on electric power, whilst powering other screens or stockpilers. This means that environmentally, as well as production wise, the XJ ticks all the boxes including both the ‘Zero Emissions’ box with its plug-in ability, and the ‘Low Noise’ box. We believe that the XJ Dual-Power yet again raises the productivity bar substantially for mid-sized crushers.’
