PAL Software develop safer tools
Safety PAL with enhanced features allows companies to reduce the risks of accidents, liability and fines
EVERY worker deserves to go home safely at the end of their working day and every company deserves to be protected from liability and fine, which is why Nottinghamshire-based PAL Software Ltd have enhanced their Safety PAL cloud-based system.
The company has added three new features that make the health and safety system easier to use and provide evidence that can be shown to investigators in the event of an accident or incident.
Workplace accidents still happen despite compliance with health and safety legislation. In 2015/16, there were 72,702 reportable injuries and 144 fatalities, according to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Many companies have five or six different systems to manage health and safety, but according to PAL Software, all these can be replaced by just one system – Safety PAL, a web-based, company-wide system that streamlines health and safety management.
Safety PAL’s new features include an improved help guide and user task tracking, which enhances project and team management. Step-by-step instructions that make the system easier for companies and their suppliers to interface have also been added.
An audit reporting feature is another new addition to Safety PAL. This allows companies to complete workplace audits, near-miss and positive-intervention reporting and good working practices reports, proving that everything practicable was done to control risks and prevent an accident. This helps protect companies from liability and from incurring hefty fines and costs.
Managing director Karl Spencer commented: ‘The new audit reporting feature was developed in response to customer feedback. We focus on prevention, but many customers wanted us to create an easy-to-use, effective reporting tool. This new feature is now an integral part of Safety PAL, offering companies a better way to prevent accidents and increase protection against liability and fines.’
PAL Software Ltd’s vision is for workplace accidents in the UK to be reduced significantly and to be eliminated from as many companies as possible.
They say Safety PAL is the first health and safety management system to allow companies to employ a holistic approach to health and safety, engagng and involving everyone, from directors to workers. The system can be accessed by all employees and linked with suppliers through smartphones and other Internet-connected devices.
Managers can consult and upload risk assessments, policies and other documents when they are out of the office and workers can receive up-to-date, filtered safety alerts while they are working on-site.
Managers can also record and upload on-site training videos and workers can watch the videos before arriving at the work site. This not only reduces stress and helps prevent accidents, but it also allows work to start immediately, increasing productivity and reducing company costs.
