New Volvo customer support centre officially opened
VOLVO Construction Equipment’s expanded facility in Immingham, South Humberside, which has been operational since the end of last year, has now been officially opened by Chris Rees, president of Volvo CE in Europe, and Anders Barreng, vice-president of sales in Europe.
Having decided that the company’s previous Barnsley base was no longer appropriate for future business, Volvo looked at the alternatives and decided that expanding Immingham into a full customer support centre was the best option from both practical and cost perspectives.
As a result, Volvo customers in the Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire area are set to benefit from a much-improved customer support centre situated on the same site as the company’s established new-machine preparation centre.
Staffed by a total of 43 people (including an established network of field-based service engineers), the enhanced dual-purpose facility now covers a six-acre site with a nine-bay workshop, two internal wash bays and a parts store with around 1,000 line items, as well as other items such as the tool kits and beacons needed to complete the inventory on the new machines being prepared at the site.
Within the newly extended office complex is a new reception area, trade parts counter, fully equipped conference room and an online training room.
According to Volvo CE, the creation of this flagship facility demonstrates the company’s long-term commitment to customer support and sets the standard for the planned upgrading of other Volvo CE support facilities in Great Britain.
Volvo’s national service manager, Glynn Redshaw, said: ‘We have made a big investment in this site and that clearly sends out the strong message we are here to stay and that we continue to provide full product support.’
