New compact telehandlers from Bobcat
Company launches TL358 and TL358+ telescopic handlers for construction and plant hire sectors
BOBCAT have launched their new TL358 and TL358+ telescopic handlers for the construction and rental markets, complementing the existing TL360 and TL470 models.
The latest 6m models are powered by either a Deutz TCD 3.6 L4 diesel engine (100hp) or a Stage IIIA-compliant Perkins 1104D-44TA engine (100hp), which is used for less regulated countries.
Capable of operating in very confined spaces, the maximum lift capacity of the TL358 model is 2.6 tonnes, whilst for the TL358+ version it is 3.0 tonnes. Both machines offer a maximum lift height of 5.80m.
The TL358 and TL358+ are very compact machines, thanks to the narrow frame design with a width of 2.1m compared with 2.3m in the TL360/TL470 models. They are also short machines at 4.5m long with an optimized 2.8m wheelbase for enhanced stability and a short turning radius of 3.77m.
In addition to their compactness, the TL358 and TL358+ models have been designed with versatility in mind. The cab, for example, can be mounted in two ways – in a low position that results in an overall height of 2.1m, or a higher position to optimize visibility for the operator from the cab.
While the machines are fitted with standard 20in tyres, they can also be equipped with optional 24in tyres for better ground clearance and traction. Both telehandlers incorporate fully automatic hydrostatic transmission with an inching function for smooth drive and continuous speed variation up to 40km/h (using 24in tyres) without gear change.
There is also a quick-change function known as ‘Turtle’ mode to ensure precise drive and higher torque transmission, as well as semi-automatic wheel realignment when changing steering modes.
Another standard feature of the telescopic handlers is the Fast Connect System (FCS), which provides quick and easy interchange of hydraulic attachments via an integrated pressure-release system.
Optional features of the TL358 and TL358+ include dual FNR control, which allows the operator to choose either the joystick or lever on the steering wheel for forward/reverse control. The optional boom suspension uses a special dual-pressure system when the TL358/TL358+ units are with or without load for more comfort and increased load retention. There is also an optional fan inverter that provides efficient cleaning of the radiator and air intake grill.
The TL358 and TL358+ telehandlers feature a rugged design suitable for use on construction sites, including a box-welded frame to meet rough terrain conditions and a shielded bottom plate along the entire length of the machine to protect vital components. The machines also have strong boom heads and high tensile steel manufactured booms for heavy-duty loading applications.
