Mannok brand to be retained as a growth hub for Cimsa and Sabanci in Ireland and the UK

MANNOK have been formally welcomed into the Cimsa family following the completion of the Turkish-listed company’s acquisition of 94.7% of Mannok at the beginning of October. Cimsa, a global building materials company, is a subsidiary of publicly listed global conglomerate Sabanci Holdings.

Under the agreement, the Mannok brand will be retained as a growth hub for Cimsa and Sabanci in Ireland and the UK, and the business will continue to be led by local management. The agreement marks Cimsa’s third major investment in the past three years, following recent investments in Spain and the US, and underpins their ambition to become a scale player in the UK and Irish markets.

Members of Cimsa’s senior leadership team visited Mannok recently. During their stay they held a welcome event at Mannok’s Innovation Academy with more than 75 members of Mannok’s staff in attendance, whilst every Mannok employee received a gift box to welcome them to the Cimsa group.

It was emphasized that Cimsa view themselves as not just a company but as a family, stressing that their real strength is in their people. It was also stated that Mannok are central to Cimsa’s strategy, and that like Mannok, sustainability, staff development, and health and safety are among the key pillars for Cimsa.

Umut Zenar, chief executive officer of Cimsa, commented: ‘You’re doing incredible work here and we want to take that success and tell your story not just across Ireland and the UK, but to Europe and the world. We want to build bridges between this site and our other Cimsa plants, bringing together your experience and the expertise from across our global network. The synergy we create will take both Mannok and Cimsa to new heights. Know-how transfers will be realized for both sides with a systematic approach.’

Burak Orhun, president of Sabanci Materials Technologies SBU, added: ‘We see the people who make this facility what it is – the people who breathe life into the technology here. And believe me, we know just how valuable you all are. Our goal is simple: to help this facility, and you, reach your full potential.’

Mannok chief executive officer Dara O’Reilly said: ‘There has been a lot of positivity around the company since the announcement of the acquisition was made, and that was enforced further when Cimsa spoke to staff about their plans for Mannok. A lot of the beliefs that lie at the heart of Mannok are mirrored by Cimsa, and we are excited for what the future holds as part of the Cimsa family.’
