TILLICOULTRY Quarries have announced the appointment of four new directors to their board. These strategic appointments are a significant step in further positioning the business for future success, enhancing its leadership capabilities, and reinforcing the company’s strong family values.

Sophia Westerhuis Marshall, previously HR manager, has been appointed as director after eight years of service with the company. Phil Kerr, formerly production manager for sand and gravel, steps up as director after a 20-year career with Tillicoultry Quarries and 55 years of experience in the wider industry. Robert Hamilton, previously production manager for hard rock, becomes director following six years with the company, whilst Jim Johnston, who was production manager for concrete and cement, has been appointed director after three years of service.

Commenting on the appointments, Wallace Menzies, managing director of Tillicoultry Quarries, said: ‘I am extremely proud to welcome Sophia, Phil, Robert, and James to the board of directors. Each of them has played a critical role in our growth and success so far.

‘These appointments reflect not only their exceptional individual contributions, but also their shared commitment to the future of Tillicoultry Quarries. With over 120 years of combined industry experience, they bring a wealth of knowledge and leadership expertise that is invaluable to the business.’

The new directors have all held key positions on the senior management team and have demonstrated leadership in their respective roles. Their individual appointments are based on their unique contributions to the business and their proven ability to drive the company forward.

Sophia Westerhuis Marshall commented: ‘Being part of a company that values its people and places such an emphasis on family is incredibly rewarding. I look forward to continuing to work closely with the team as we build on the successes achieved so far.’

Phil Kerr added: ‘Tillicoultry Quarries has been my home for two decades, and I’ve seen it evolve into a leading player in the industry. I’m excited to step into this new role and continue to contribute to the future of the company.’

Robert Hamilton noted: ‘Working with a team that shares the same vision and values has been a highlight of my career. I am proud to join the board and help lead the business as we pursue new opportunities.’

Jim Johnston said: ‘It has been a privilege to be part of the Tillicoultry Quarries family. I’m eager to contribute further in my new role as we continue to expand and focus on delivering the quality service and products we are renowned for.’

In the past decade, Tillicoultry Quarries have made several key strategic acquisitions, alongside experiencing significant organic growth, increasing the company’s turnover to more than £100 million. Investments across its 32 national sites, including the construction of the company’s new headquarters, RWM House at Kilbagie, have created the infrastructure for future development.
