Les Searle adds more Volvo A25Ds to their fleet

Les Searle Plant Hire & Sales Ltd have added a hat-trick of Volvo A25D articulated haulers to their growing fleet of dozers, motor-scrapers and excavators. The family-run business already has two Volvo A25D dumptrucks, which were bought in 2003.

The Volvo haulers have impressed Les Searle thanks to a number of mechanical capabilities. First, the A25D is equipped with a 9-litre turbocharged, high-performance, low-emission diesel engine, which provides enough power (303hp) and torque for acceleration and higher average speed even when the hauler has a full load and is being driven in the most difficult terrain.

Secondly, the A25D benefits from the Volvo’s three-point suspension system, which minimizes the ‘rolling’ effect experienced in some competitive haulers. This is further enhanced by the vehicle’s all-wheel drive feature and 100% differential locks, which give the operator a range of driving options.

For the loading and offloading of aggregates, the dump body has a capacity of 24 tonnes and is designed to be as robust as possible. Another key feature of the A25D is its load and dump brake. When the hauler is in position for loading or dumping, the operator presses a button, which automatically applies the brakes and places the transmission in neutral. This auto-pilot feature helps improve safety and minimizes wear on the brakes and drivetrain.
