Komatsu K100 boom change system picks up coveted SEDDRe award
KOMATSU have won the prestigious Innovation Award (bronze level) for their innovative K100 boom change system from the expert trade association of the French demolition industry.
Representing more than 250 corporations in the French demolition and recycling industry, the Syndicat des Entreprises de Déconstruction, Dépollution et Recyclage (SEDDRe) presented the industry accolade to the manufacturer after recognizing the improvements in safety and environmental benefits which could be achieved by using the ground-breaking system.
The K100 boom change system, for example, allows an operator to change the boom configuration of Komatsu’s PC490HRD-11 high-reach demolition excavator from the cab.
The safety benefits of allowing the machine configuration to be changed by the operator without exiting the cab are clear, while the realistic use of one machine to carry out a variety of tasks on site offers environmental benefits through reduction in fuel usage and transporting additional machines and ancillary equipment to site.
