THE Refined Bitumen Association is to hold a half-day workshop, entitled ‘Guide to Safe Delivery of Bitumen’, at the Somerset Earth Science Centre, Moon’s Hill Quarry, Stoke St Michael, on Thursday 29 October 2015.
The event will commence at 9.45am and finish at approximately 1.00pm, followed by lunch and a bitumen tanker demonstration.
Through presentations and demonstration on industry best practice, the workshop will provide asphalt plant workers with the most up-to-date procedures. Key topics will include: driver site inductions; Bitumen Discharge Permit; PPE; bitumen storage tank maintenance and alarms; ground-based pumps; and site inspection.
The workshop, which is free of charge, is aimed at those who operate asphalt plants, particularly with responsibility for bitumen storage and deliveries.
Delegates will gain practical tools and information to improve site safety, an improved understanding of the bitumen delivery process, and improved awareness of the risk associated with this process.
