Infrastructure services firm targets further growth with the appointment of Chris Webster

FM Conway have announced the appointment of Chris Webster to the board as a non-executive director. Mr Webster’s new role will see him working with the board of directors and the business development team to continue to drive the company’s growth in key target markets.

He brings to FM Conway a wealth of experience in the management and strategic growth of large construction businesses. He was previously chief executive of Miller Construction for four years, overseeing a period of strong growth for the leading private construction business.

Prior to his appointment at Miller, Mr Webster spent nearly 20 years at Amey; latterly as chief operating officer and a main board director. For the past three years, he has been a non-executive director of the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership, acting as the lead for the property and construction sector.

Andrew Hansen, chief operating officer of FM Conway, said: ‘As a business we’ve enjoyed phenomenal growth in recent years.  Our order books are buoyant and we’ve won some big contracts recently as clients continue to wake up to the benefits that our self-delivery model can offer.

‘However there are still real opportunities out there, and we want to be in the best place possible to take advantage of these opportunities, especially as the market continues to pick up pace. We are confident that with Chris’ vast expertise and industry knowledge behind us, we can continue the strong and sustained growth of the business in the months and years to come.’

Commenting on his new role, Mr Webster said: ‘FM Conway has had a massive impact on the highways industry in the South East. The company has changed the way the sector thinks about the supply of materials, and in doing so has carved out for itself a leading position in the market – an achievement that’s reflected in the company’s remarkable growth in recent years.

‘This is a great company with a fantastic ethos and culture, and I’m joining at a time when there are excellent opportunities for further growth and success. It’s an exciting move for me and I look forward to helping to take FM Conway to the next level.’
