New A-Series crawler excavators and wheel loaders for Middlesbrough-based plant hire firm
POWER, reliability and comfort are the non-negotiables that CW Russell expect from their machinery, and these are the qualities that have led the company to choose one brand for its fleet of excavators and wheel loaders – Hyundai.
Founded 28 years ago, the Middlesbrough-based plant hire contractor is a multi-service company offering road haulage, aggregates supplies, site clearance, earthmoving and excavation services across the North-East. It also has a rental division providing machines for small hire, demolition and muck-away projects.
For the last two years, machines from the Hyundai Construction Equipment range have borne the trademark red branding of the CW Russell fleet, and the company has recently invested in major new additions, including brand-new HX300AL and HX330AL crawler excavator models, weighing 30 and 33 tonnes respectively, and a HL970A wheel loader.
They join an extensive Hyundai fleet which has been built up since May 2020 and includes six wheel loaders and 10 excavators. Since making the switch to Hyundai, Tom Russell, director of CW Russell, says his company is already reaping the benefits, calling his Hyundai fleet ‘the best machines we’ve ever bought’.
He continued: ‘The excavators in our fleet have got to be powerful. They’re turning over big heaps when they’re crushing and screening, and the Hyundais are more than up to the challenge – they get through the job much quicker than normal diggers would do.’
CW Russell currently operate a fleet of more than 40 machines in total ranging from 20- to 50-tonne excavators, wheel loaders, and a series of crushers and screeners.
Mr Russell continued: ‘Our operators love the Hyundai A-Series; the feedback has been fantastic. They consistently deliver on performance and they’re super-efficient on fuel. The operators appreciate all the mod cons in the cabin – Bluetooth, great air con, comfortable seats – details that matter to our business because they improve the experience for our clients and keep them coming back to us.’
CW Russell have also built a strong relationship with Hyundai dealers Taylor & Braithwaite, which is another reason they continue to choose Hyundai.
‘The back-up we receive from Taylor & Braithwaite has been second to none – the best support we’ve had from a dealer,’ said Mr Russell. ‘There’s always someone on the phone, checking we’re happy and ironing out any issues straight away.
‘They understand the busy nature of our business and always work around our downtime, ensuring we never have a machine standing that could be out operating. We’ve tried other brands and other dealers, but we will definitely be sticking with Hyundai and our colleagues at Taylor & Braithwaite.’
