Avery Weigh-Tronix’s search for the next apprentice will continue
Avery Weigh-Tronix have recruited 10 apprentice service technicians as part of their new apprenticeship initiative.
The company intends to offer this opportunity on an on-going basis, by taking new apprentices on each year for the foreseeable future.
The two-three-year program offers people across the UK the chance to develop new skills in the repair and maintenance of weighing equipment. The course combines a mixture of on-the-job training with formal academic learning.
Peter Branston, general manager for Service at Avery Weigh-Tronix, commented: ‘We’re very pleased to be able to run the apprenticeship scheme. In doing so, we’re not only investing in the future of Avery Weigh-Tronix by harnessing new talent, we’re also supporting the demand for a new generation of skilled technicians in the UK.’
As well as receiving product-specific training, apprentices will be assigned a senior mentor, enabling them to benefit from the knowledge and expertize of the company’s 200-strong team of experienced service technicians.
Mike Scott, general manager of Avery Weigh-Tronix, added: ‘Having started my own career as an apprentice, I believe that apprenticeships are an excellent way of gaining qualifications and practical workplace experience while also being paid a salary.
