A brace of Volvo shovels for Earsham Gravels
Earsham Gravels Ltd have taken delivery of new Volvo L90F and L120F loading shovels, which join an existing fleet of Volvo loading shovels and were chosen thanks to the reliability of the product and the high availability of after market support provided by Volvo Construction Equipment.
Jim Bennett, proprietor, commented: ‘They are not the cheapest on the market, but at the end of the day you get what you pay for and we know where we stand with Volvo. We are also very conscious of our carbon footprint in the locality both on emissions and noise pollution and again we believe the Volvo product goes that extra mile in reducing both.’
The smaller L90F will be deployed in the main stock yard and has been equipped with a specially modified 2.7m3 straight-edged bucket designed to handle material in and out of fairly narrow bins. The larger L120F is equipped with a 3.5m3 straight-edged bucket with teeth and will be deployed on the primary extraction of sand and gravel as well as dry screening duties. Both machines are fitted with optional boom suspension systems to facilitate smooth load and carry and good bucket retention of material, automatic lubrication systems and RDS weighing devices.
