Welton Aggregates have strengthened their crushing capability with a new Finlay J-1175 tracked mobile jaw crusher, chosen for its proven performance on the toughest stone across the company’s Lincolnshire quarries
Welton Aggregates are a family-run business with decades of experience in quarrying and supplying construction materials. Operating several sites across Lincolnshire, the company produces a wide range of primary and recycled aggregates alongside ready-mixed concrete.
Their reputation for quality and reliability has made Welton Aggregates a trusted partner for contractors throughout the region. With demand continuing to rise, maintaining output is a key priority for sales director Guy Tomlinson and his team, who are focused on boosting efficiency and ensuring the business stays ahead of the curve.
‘Welton are proud of the service they can offer and the materials they produce, but to keep delivering at this level, we need equipment that can be relied upon every single day,’ said Mr Tomlinson.
At one of the company’s North Lincolnshire quarries, the challenge was particularly pressing. The site’s exceptionally hard, non-frost susceptible stone is highly valued for construction, but its abrasive nature takes a heavy toll on aggregates processing equipment. To meet growing orders and material demand, Welton needed a new primary crusher that could combine strength, reliability, and consistent production.
After a series of site visits and discussions with Molson Finlay, sales manager Tom Pope recommended the Finlay J-1175 tracked jaw crusher. The machine’s large 1,070mm x 760mm feed opening, high-capacity hopper, and hydrostatic drive made it a strong candidate for the application.
‘The support from Molson was excellent,’ said Mr Tomlinson. ‘Tom [Pope] spent time on site with us, understood our operation, and guided us towards the Finlay J-1175 as the ideal solution.’

Proven performance
Now hard at work, the J-1175 jaw crusher has quickly justified its selection. Designed for demanding applications, the machine combines high output with durability. The hydrostatic drive provides precise control of material flow, whilst the vibrating grizzly feeder pre-screens fines and separates oversize material, boosting efficiency and protecting the jaw chamber.
The Finlay J-1175 also packs a punch – power comes from a Stage V-compliant Scania DC09 diesel engine delivering around 345hp, balancing fuel economy with the torque needed to handle abrasive stone for Welton Aggregates.
‘This machine gives us the throughput we need to keep pace with customer demand,’ said Mr Tomlinson. ‘And because it’s built with durability in mind, we’re confident it will stay productive for years to come.’
Now in its 20th year of production, the Finlay J-1175 has earned a worldwide reputation as a workhorse in quarrying, recycling, and mining. The latest version includes a heavy-duty bearing design that spreads load more evenly across the chamber, helping it handle abrasive material while reducing wear and maintenance requirements.
Ease of service was another key factor in Welton’s decision to purchase the mobile jaw crusher from Molson Finlay. Access to key components makes routine servicing safer and faster, helping to minimize downtime and maximize uptime — an essential advantage for a busy operation.
For Welton, the machine is only part of the equation. ‘Molson Finlay have been fantastic from start to finish,’ commented Mr Tomlinson. ‘From site visits and answering questions through to after-sales support, we felt supported every step of the way and ended up with the right machine for our needs.’
Molson Finlay’s Tom Pope agreed: ‘Welton run an efficient, forward-thinking operation and they knew exactly what they wanted. The J-1175 provides the performance and reliability they need to keep delivering for their customers, and we’re proud to support them.’
With the new Finlay crusher in place, Welton Aggregates are well well-positioned to meet the demands of a growing regional construction market, delivering high-quality materials on time, every time.
