Veteran communicator joins NSSGA
Bailey Wood takes on vice-president of communications role in the fight to refortify US infrastructure
THE National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) has announced that Bailey Wood (pictured) is taking on the role of vice-president of communications. In this position, he will be a key leader as the association implements Rocks Build America, a three-year strategic plan to grow the scope and influence of the aggregates industry and refortify America’s infrastructure backbone.
‘Bailey’s background will be instrumental to NSSGA as we seek to align our key strategic initiatives with our legislative and regulatory affairs efforts on Capitol Hill,’ said NSSGA president and CEO, Mike Johnson. ‘With 20 years’ experience in strategic communications, he has the skills to grow NSSGA’s public presence, keep our members informed and provide a powerful voice on the national and grassroots levels.’
‘Growing up in Pennsylvania, I have seen first hand the incredible impact that stone, sand and gravel producers have on their local communities and the nation as a whole,’ said Mr Wood. ‘That background will be invaluable to me as we seek to demonstrate the need for a stable funding stream to rebuild this country’s crumbling roads, bridges, dams and other critical infrastructure.’
Mr Wood comes to NSSGA from the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA). For almost eight years, he was responsible for much of NADA’s policy-related communications, handling myriad environmental policies, tax and regulatory matters. Prior to NADA, he served as a Capitol Hill staffer to three members of Congress, the House Policy Committee and the House Homeland Security Committee.
