Utranazz concrete plant for Mitcham Building Supplies

Utranazz concrete batching facility

Kent-based firm invests in new Mobile 70 batching facility and three truckmixers from Utranazz

MITCHAM Building Supplies (MBS) have invested £500,000 in a new concrete batching facility from concrete equipment specialists Utranazz, allowing them to produce their own concrete in large quantities and fulfil several big contracts they have won across the south-east of the UK.

The order includes a Mobile 70 wet-concrete batching plant, three 50-tonne low-level cement silos and three 8x4 concrete truckmixers. The plug-and-play batching plant, which is designed to be up and running within 24 hours of arrival on a site, can produce 70 cubic metres of concrete per hour.

The plant features two separate conveyor belts for faster batching; one is used to weigh the aggregates, whilst the other, simultaneously, feeds the single-shaft mixer, thereby allowing for precise measurement of raw materials and continual loading even whilst batching.

Karl Whaid, managing director of MBS, said: ‘Having our own concrete batching provision is a new avenue for us. Previously we supplied concrete using our fleet of volumetric mixers and a cement silo.

‘However, we recently won a number of big contracts and now have a large order book for 2019, so the time was right for us to expand and be able to produce our own large-volume concrete.’
