Company releases series of new Environmental Product Declarations across a range of products

TARMAC have published a series of new Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) across a range of their products to help customers make informed decisions and accurately calculate the carbon footprint of their projects.

An EPD provides details about the performance and carbon emissions generated by a product at each stage in its lifecycle, including the extraction and processing of raw materials, transport of raw materials to production site, manufacturing, transport to customer site, installation and then end-of-life and recycling stages.

Tarmac’s latest EPDs cover a number of products within their range of aggregates, mortar and cement. These have been prepared using a lifecycle analysis (LCA) methodology compliant with the industry standard EN 15804.

Independent verification by a globally recognized third-party accredited body ensures that the information included within the EPDs is consistent, standardized and reliable, helping to provide customers and supply chain partners with complete transparency about the products they use.

Emma Hines, sustainability director at Tarmac, said: ‘Across the industry, specifiers and design teams increasingly must consider a range of whole-life environmental impacts to make informed decisions.

‘Publishing these new EPDs across Tarmac’s product portfolio provides comprehensive data that will help to eliminate environmental assumptions for project teams when calculating and measuring the carbon footprint of their projects.

‘Providing this level of transparency not only supports our customers in meeting their own sustainability commitments, but also helps them gain a competitive advantage.’

Tarmac customers can access and download all of the company’s EPDs from the company’s website, or by emailing: sustainability@tarmac.com
