R Collard appoint new executive director
Construction waste specialists announce appointment of John Watson to the board
R COLLARD Ltd have appointed John Watson to the board as executive director. Mr Watson joins the recycling firm from Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), following the completion of the new Ferrybridge Multifuel 1 energy-from-waste plant in West Yorkshire, which went into full operation in August this year.
Mr Watson has 20 years’ experience in the waste-management sector and roles have included helping to develop a fibre fuel processing plant at the Slough Heat & Power station site and overseeing the acquisition of Slough Heat & Power by SSE in 2008.
Prior to his appointment at R Collard, Mr Watson said he had been following the business with interest, particularly the way that owner Robert Collard has steered the company in achieving impressive growth and creating a nationwide reputation for sustainability.
One of the Mr Watson’s key responsibilities at R Collard will be to put a new management structure in place to both consolidate their current position and prepare the business for future growth.
‘Having worked in both the private and public sectors and, more recently, for a large corporate organization, I am ready to devote my energy to managing the huge potential that Collards offers,’ he commented. ‘It shares my ethos for sustainability and I can see many opportunities for the company and the wider economy going forward.’
