New Warrior for Colson Transport

Powerscreen Warrior 1400X screen

DUO supply new Powerscreen Warrior 1400X to Nottinghamshire-based aggregates recyclers

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE-based aggregates recyclers Colson Transport, who provide waste removal, aggregates, plant hire, skip hire, low-loader hire and demolition services throughout Nottingham, Derby and Leicester, have recently taken delivery of their third machine from the Powerscreen Warrior 1400 series.

Supplied by DUO, the new Warrior 1400X will be operating at the company’s recycling facility in Hucknall, Nottingham, where it will process a range of materials including concrete, soil, brick, clay and tarmac from commercial and domestic sources.

Colson have continued to replace their scalpers with new Warrior 1400 machines due to the positive experiences they have had with previous models. In the past, various competitor’s scalpers have been tried but they say nothing has been able to match the Warrior 1400.

According to Ryan Colson, the Warrior 1400 and now the 1400X are the ‘best in the market’. ‘The new 1400X is proving to have all the screening performance of its predecessor and in addition to this we’ve already started to see the benefits of Powerscreen’s improvements,’ he said.

These key benefits include: fuel efficiency, achieved through reduced rev/min compared with the previous model; a ‘jack-up’ screen facility to aid mesh changes, which, given the variation in the material Colson are processing, allows the plant operators to quickly and easily change between the screening media, thus reducing downtime and increasing processing flexibility; and increased stockpiling capacity.

Mr Colson continued: ‘When I first saw the Warrior 1400X I was very impressed with its compact design, which is perfect for our site. But despite its compact nature we’ve seen no reduction in the lump size it can handle or the production results. The improved access that the 1400X offers will also make it even easier than before to keep on top of our regular maintenance.’

To assist their customer, DUO provided finance support through Terex Financial Services and also took Colson’s previous Warrior 1400 in part exchange. Commenting on the package, Mr Colson said: ‘We look after our equipment and run a machine renewal programme to ensure we get the best possible return on investment. In our experience the Warrior scalpers have a good residual value due to their popularity.’
