New Volvo FMX trucks for Tippers ‘R’ Us

Volvo FMX off-road truck

Ipswich-based truck hire firm purchases new FMX 8x4 tippers from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia

TIPPERS ‘R’ Us have taken delivery of 10 new Volvo FMX 8x4 tippers from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia.

The trucks were delivered with Boweld Taperlite tipping bodies as part of Volvo Trucks’ combination offering, through which the company has teamed up with some of the key players in the bodybuilding sector to manufacture trucks complete with bodywork.

Guy Nicholls, managing director of Tippers ‘R’ Us, said: ‘Our drivers have clearly been impressed by these trucks. From my perspective, when you buy a Volvo you are investing in driver comfort and safety, quality, reliability, productivity and good resale values.’

All of the 10 FMX tippers are fitted with Day cabs and sit on B-Ride rear two spring bogie suspensions – powered by 13-litre D13K engines delivering 420hp. The trucks are equipped with I-Shift automated gearboxes, while the 15 cubic metre capacity Boweld Taperlite steel tipping bodies feature Edbro tipping gears.

‘The favourable fuel economy of the Volvo FMX allied to the load capability of the Taperlite bodies means we’re also getting great operating efficiency,’ said Mr Nicholls.

This is particularly important given that Mr Nicholls wants to set new standards in the recycling of general construction waste.

‘With Tippers ‘R’ Us, I’m not heading a revolution, but I believe I am on the leading edge of evolution,’ he continued. ‘I want Tippers ‘R’ Us to be recognized as the ultimate professional outfit in the recycling field and my choice of Volvo trucks and the £10 million investment I’m making in the Sinks Pit site is testament to this vision.’

All the FMX trucks are being maintained on a full repair, maintenance and servicing contract with Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia.
