New vehicle safety aids from Transport Support
Company launches loud hailer and HD witness camera/drive recorder system for mobile plant
TRANSPORT Support, suppliers of vehicle safety systems, have announced the launch of their new full HD heavy-duty witness camera system – the 720WHD. The new camera system is a twin-lens drive recorder which, when attached to the front windscreen, records from both a forward facing and internal facing camera.
This means that not only everything that a driver would see and hear is recorded along with GPS data, but also a 170-degree wide-angle lens records both the driver and all passengers. This internal camera can be used to monitor commercial vehicle drivers to help prevent accidents caused by distractions such as texting and smartphone use.
The 720WHD provides exceptional video quality, recording in 720p high-definition and supporting micro SD card memory up to 16GB.
Video footage can be analyzed on a computer using Transport Support’s dedicated software. It will collect vital information about the vehicle speed and location, as well as storing and presenting events in driver reports or image-capture facilities.
Transport Support have also unveiled a new vehicle-mounted public address (PA) system. The device can be fitted to any vehicle and provides the driver with a loud hailer to make contact with haulers and visitors on site.
A company spokesman explained: ‘As loading shovels work around site, it is often difficult for operators to make communicate with haulers and visitors to the site without stopping their machines and exiting the cabs.
‘An idea was, therefore, developed to install a loud-hailer system on to an excavator to allow the operator to speak clearly and audibly from the cab. The PA system also comes into use when dealing with unwanted visitors or trespassers, as a driver can make contact and ask them to leave the site from the safety of his cab.’
The mobile PA unit is easily installed on any 12V battery-equipped vehicle. It features two microphone inputs and an auxiliary input. A unidirectional microphone with talk switch is included.
