New senior leadership team appointment at FM Conway
FM Conway appoint Martin Barrow-Starkey as aggregates and asphalt operations director
FM Conway have bolstered their aggregates and asphalt senior leadership team with the appointment of Martin Barrow-Starkey as operations director, to support the strategic and operational development of the division and manage the company’s suite of seven asphalt plants.
As part of the wider restructure and to support future growth, Tim Metcalf has taken on the new role of development director. He will head up all major aggregates and asphalt projects, capital investments and further development works, and will be responsible for driving innovations, supporting key procurement frameworks and pushing product developments and technical abilities.
Both Mr Barrow-Starkey’s appointment and Mr Metcalf’s new role are designed to further strengthen the business’ ongoing focus on developing its core highways services for clients.
Mr Barrow-Starkey (pictured) brings with him an accomplished background complete with a wealth of leadership, strategic and operational management skills and experience from across a range of sectors, centred within engineering.
A chartered electrical engineer, he spent 12 years working in the rail industry before eventually moving into broader senior management roles. He joins FM Conway from Volkswagen Group where he was the head of group fleet services and sustainability lead.
Prior to joining Volkswagen in 2011, he worked in multiple roles including a directorship for the services and facilities company Carillion.
As a driver of innovation and having delivered results in complex environments throughout his career, Mr Barrow-Starkey says he aims to bring his culture of continuous improvement to FM Conway and is keen to support, energize and enable the people around him to achieve amazing results.
Joanne Garwood, aggregates and asphalt managing director at FM Conway, commented: ‘For 60 years, FM Conway have been a market leader in delivering highways services across London and the south of England.
‘Martin’s appointment and Tim’s new role strengthen the specialist manufacturing expertise we have within the business and our ability to provide quality services for clients across the full lifecycle of their highway assets.’
