New Renault trucks for Leiths
Scottish quarry operator adds two C430 8x4 tippers to its subsidiary company fleet
LEITHS (Scotland) Ltd have added two new Renault C430 8x4 tippers to their Inverness-based subsidiary A Ross & Sons’ mixed equipment fleet. Supplied by Renault Trucks Scotland, Leiths opted for the C430s owing to the vehicle manufacturer’s comprehensive dealer network coverage, truck specification, and proven reliability.
Fitted with Aliweld insulated tipper bodies, the C430 units are powered by Renault Trucks’s 11-litre engine, which produces 323kW and 2,050Nm of torque. The powertrain uses an Optidriver ATO 2612F gearbox, driving PMR 23150 single-reduction rear axles, with a 23-tonne rear loading capacity.
The trucks – which are finished in A Ross & Sons’ distinctive Velvet grey and orange livery – are also equipped with lightweight aluminium air tanks and Alcoa brushed matt aluminium wheels to optimize payload.
Operating out of A Ross & Sons’ Midlairgs Quarry, near Inverness, the new vehicles will deliver sand, aggregates, and asphalt to customers across the Northwest Highlands from Fort William to Kishorn and Dufftown to the Isle of Skye.
Bob Adamson, fleet manager at Leiths, commented: ‘Our varied and widespread operation is very busy, with much work currently generated from the renewables and infrastructure sectors. We need reliable vehicles, with first-class backup service and driver appeal. We found the Renault Trucks C is well specified, and comfortable, the cab design gives us ample space to advertise our business and the engine, chassis, and running gear are all proven technology, which gives great reliability and overall peace of mind.’
Inside, the C430 day cabs feature a heated and ventilated driver seat, air-conditioning, and a leather steering wheel with cruise control and a hands-free telephone.
Leiths say nine further Renault Trucks vehicles are currently on order for delivery next year, including a Renault Trucks C and five Renault Trucks D road marking trucks, an additional D curtainsider, and two more C430 8x4 tippers.
