New NP-Series impact crushers for Canadian operator
Metso Nordberg NP20 units provide increased capacity and ease of maintenance for Demix Agregats
METSO have delivered two new Nordberg NP20 impact crushers – the latest additions to their field-proven range of NP-Series machines – to a Demix Agregats plant in Laval, Canada.
The Nordberg NP20 crushers were developed in close collaboration with Hewitt Equipment, the exclusive distributors of Metso crushing and screening equipment in Quebec and Western Labrador, and Demix Agregats, to provide greater capacity and ease of maintenance at the client’s aggregates processing facility.
Demix Agregats, a division of CRH Canada Group, are a leading construction products supplier in the greater Montreal region, contributing to large infrastructure projects and providing aggregate products to the commercial, industrial and residential sectors.
Vincent Schmitt, product manager for Metso’s impact crusher range, said: ‘The NP20 is the third model of the renewed Nordberg Series. It will replace our largest secondary impact crusher, the NP1520 and, like its predecessors, is optimized for use both in secondary and tertiary applications.
According to Brian Husk, distribution business manager for Metso, and Paul Davignon, crushing process specialist for Hewitt, the development of the NP20 model has been a real ‘win-win-win project’.
Demix were impressed by the maintenance-friendly design of the machine, but also needed higher-capacity equipment. Studies and collaboration between the parties resulted in the successful research and development of the Nordberg NP20, with all three companies meeting their required targets on the project.
‘Developing a new crusher in just eight months has been an exciting challenge,’ commented Mr Schmitt. ‘Thanks to our knowledge and experience from previous-generation machines, and the involvement from the whole team, the project has been a great success.’
As well as the Nordberg NP20 impact crushers, Demix have ordered other Metso equipment for another project currently under way in Laval, including: a C150 jaw crusher with an MB432 hydraulic hammer; a CVB202 for primary crushing and screening; two TS5.3 screens; a sand washing screw; and several feeders.
