New general manager at Drakelands Mine
Wolf Minerals announce retirement of Jeff Harrison and appointment of Alan Fearon as his successor
WOLF Minerals Ltd have announced the appointment of Alan Fearon as general manager of their Drakelands tungsten and tin mine, near Hemerdon, in south-west England, with effect from today [6 April].
Mr Fearon (pictured), a metallurgical graduate from Camborne School of Mines, has more than 20 years’ experience in general manager and processing manager roles in Australia, the UK and Africa with a number of large mining companies.
Most recently, Mr Fearon was general manager at Barrick Gold Corporation’s Cowal mine in Australia, where he was responsible for more than 400 employees and contractors and an annual operating budget in excess of A$200 million.
He takes over from Jeff Harrison, Wolf Minerals’ long-serving operations manager at the Drakelands Mine, who is retiring from full-time employment. Mr Harrison was instrumental in the development of Drakelands and the establishment of the first metal mine in the UK for almost 50 years.
Wolf Minerals’ managing director, Russell Clark, said: ‘Jeff Harrison has made an extensive and very important contribution to the development of the Drakelands Mine and we wish him well for a well-earned, long and happy retirement.
‘We are very pleased to welcome Alan Fearon to the Wolf team. His wide-ranging experience in managing large mining and processing operations in environmentally sensitive areas with nearby communities will be invaluable as we continue to ramp-up the operation to full production.’
