New commercial director for Breedon in Scotland
Appointment of Gordon Liney reflects Group’s continuing growth north of the border
BREEDON Aggregates, the UK’s largest independent aggregates business, have appointed Gordon Liney as commercial director of their Scottish business.
This new senior role, reporting to Breedon Scotland chief executive Alan Mackenzie, reflects the Group’s continuing growth north of the border.
Mr Liney will be responsible for the overall commercial direction of Breedon’s quarrying operations in Scotland and will also provide commercial support to Breedon Scotland’s contracting director.
Alan Mackenzie commented: ‘Gordon takes up a key new role in our senior leadership team in Scotland. He will initially be reviewing our sales systems, regional account management and key account management, as part of a wide-ranging review of the Group’s sales systems.
‘He will assume responsibility for our decorative aggregates portfolio and for developing our strategy for high-PSV aggregates…In addition, he will provide strategic commercial input on a number of major projects, including the dualling of the A9, the new Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, and offshore and onshore wind projects throughout Scotland.’
Mr Liney, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the building materials industry, was previously with Lafarge Tarmac where he held a number of sales, commercial and general management roles. Most recently, he was major projects manager for the north of England and Scotland, and general manager of Tarmac Caledonian in the north of Scotland.
