New Bobcat telehandler for Farmington Quarry
Farmington Natural Stone take delivery of Bobcat TL470 telescopic handler
FARMINGTON Natural Stone have purchased a new TL470 telescopic handler from Kellands (Plant Sales) Ltd, the authorized Bobcat dealer for south-west England.
The TL470 telehandler is currently in use at Farmington Quarry, near Cheltenham, in Gloucestershire, which produces natural Cotswold stone for the company’s high-quality range of stone fireplaces, architectural masonry and building stone.
The Bobcat telehandler is powered by a 74.5kW Perkins 1104D-44T diesel engine and offers a standard hydraulic flow via a 100-litres/min gear pump. It has a maximum lift capacity of 3.5 tonnes and a maximum forward reach of 4,002mm. Lift capacity at full height (7m) and full reach is 3.0 tonnes and 1.5 tonnes respectively.
The TL470 machine is employed in various parts of the quarry operation. In one application the telehandler is equipped with a pallet fork attachment, which is used to lift blocks of stone into place on rollers feeding the hydraulic block splitters.
The telehandler also transports bags of Cotswold stone from the base of the quarry to storage sheds at the top. The load-locking system on the TL470 ensures that the driver has a jolt-free, comfortable ride throughout.
Sharing a common design with the smaller TL360 model, the TL470 telehandler offers a range of improvements and several features, benefits and options that are new to the industry.
The machine’s patented asymmetric cab, for example, is said to take visibility to a new level by offering an unobstructed view across the rear of the machine. In addition, the lowered boom pivot point further improves visibility, while the rounded front windscreen provides full visibility of the attachment at all heights and boom extensions.
Optional features on the Bobcat TL470 telehandler include an ability to travel up to 40km/h, boom suspension and a 190-litres/min load-sensing pump.
