More Volvo machines for CPI

Volvo A30F dumptruck

Chepstow Plant (International) Ltd make another significant investment in Volvo CE products

CHEPSTOW Plant (International) Ltd (CPI) have made another significant investment in a selection of Volvo excavators, loading shovels and articulated haulers for 2013, and, notably, have taken Volvo A30F haulers into their fleet for the first time.

The Monmouthshire-based company, which specializes in high-production projects in the UK and overseas, has taken a package of 44 machines from Volvo Construction Equipment to service existing long-term contracts as well as recently awarded prestigious contracts within the extractive industry.

The majority of machines for 2013 consist of Volvo A25F and A40F articulated haulers with a mix of shovels and excavators ranging from the EC220D (22 tonnes) up to Volvo’s flagship EC700C (70 tonnes).

More notably, the company has taken delivery of three Volvo A30F articulated haulers for the first time, which have gone to work on an overburden removal contract in a large Devon clay pit.

‘When we discussed this particular contract with our client, utilizing the three A30F’s in combination with a 48-tonne EC480D made good economic sense for the project and a saving on the cost per tonne moved,’ said managing director John Corcoran.

To provide added value to CPI’s customer base, all of the Volvo-supplied products are equipped with CareTrack telematics featuring the latest technology in machine management. Furthermore, the majority of Volvo equipment supplied to CPI over the last three years is covered under a Volvo Blue customer support agreement.

‘Tapping into this resource has proved to be a sound business decision,’ continued Mr Corcoran. ‘By investing in support agreements for our fleet, we are able to pass on the full benefit of Volvo’s integrated management system, associated accreditations and core values to our own customers, while at the same time sensibly deploying our own in-house resources for specific targeted achievements, maximizing our up-time and ensuring our sustainability and profitability.

‘Our business has become synonymous for operating quality products in the projects we undertake where high production capacity and high availability is called for. In our opinion, continuing to opt for models from the Volvo range supports a sound business partnership between us, our clients and our supplier.’
