President and chief executive officer Nico Delvaux to assume CEO position outside Metso
METSO’s president and chief executive officer, Nico Delvaux, has decided to resign and will assume the position of president and chief executive officer of ASSA ABLOY AB.
Mikael Lilius, chairman of Metso’s board of directors, said: ‘We are obviously disappointed that Nico has decided to leave Metso, and will initiate a search for a new president and chief executive officer.
‘However the business plans and organizational changes that have been decided during the autumn have the board’s full support and everybody in Metso will focus on executing these plans going forward.’
Commenting on his decision to resign, Mr Delvaux (pictured) said he had been offered a ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that he could not turn down’.
He added: ‘I have enjoyed my time at Metso and I’m grateful to the board and all the Metso people for the opportunity to work with them over the past months.
‘Based on my experience, I’m confident that Metso have significant potential to drive profitable growth in line with their strategy.’
Mr Delvaux will leave Metso by 18 June 2018 at the latest.
