Major contract for VUE
Vision Unique Equipment (VUE) have won a supply-and-install contract with Tarmac at their £15 million Swinden 2000 quarry development.
VUE will install a combination of products from their Quarry Watch 2000 range. The project includes fitting a remote CCTV camera on to a Nordberg crusher so that personnel will be able to view the operation of the crusher's jaws on a colour monitor at a safe distance and anticipate any technical problems. The contract also includes the supply of five static cameras and two tilt-and-zoom cameras.
VUE will also supply a number of Hewlett Packard PCs, data-processing units, a central joystick control system and all associated software. Full on-site training will be given by VUE engineers.
The system will allow site managers to monitor the stockpile position on digital photographs which can be used for audit purposes. These photographs can be stored on the site's mainframe computer and accessed by any of the company's worldwide operations. The cameras can also be used to record images which are critical to safety and operational efficiency. The live round-the-clock video recordings will also help with security at the site.
