Lafarge Tarmac roll out new readymix technology
Customers set to benefit from two new mobile Ultra plants in a first for UK ready-mixed concrete industry
IN a first for the ready-mixed concrete sector, UK customers are set to benefit from the introduction of new mobile Ultra ready-mixed concrete plants. Lafarge Tarmac have invested in two units to strengthen their existing nationwide concrete offering and provide customers with 24h security of supply to projects in remote locations.
The two new mobile Ultra plants can be transported direct to site as a standard load and assembled within just 24h to significantly reduce plant installation times.
The plants can operate round the clock to deliver continuous supply and can produce volumes of up to 60 cubic metres per hour. This capacity, combined with their flexibility and quick set-up, means the Ultra plants are well suited to shorter-term contracts in more remote locations, where standard mobile plants (which have a set-up time of up to six weeks) are not suitable.
The mobile Ultra units also minimize vehicle movements to and from site, reducing both logistics costs and carbon emissions.
Commenting on the new technology, Richard Stares, commercial director for Lafarge Tarmac’s Readymix business, said: ‘We’re constantly looking for innovative solutions to help customers address challenges and deliver construction projects as effectively as possible. Clients have told us that a traditional mobile plant isn’t always suitable, so we wanted to offer an alternative to meet these needs.
‘Our new kit offers flexibility and quick set-up times, helping clients to manage costs and cut carbon, whilst still giving them the reassurance of receiving the same high levels of quality, supply and technical support that you’d expect from one of our standard plants.’
Each plant is operated by a dedicated on-site technical team to provide expert advice and support in order to deliver ready-mixed concrete to meet the specific requirements of any project.
