KKB Group first in UK for full fleet of Rubble Master electric machines
Waste-recycling firm strengthens commitment to decarbonization with investment in electric mobile crushers and screens
IN a decisive move towards delivering sustainable recycling practices, KKB Group, the Kent-based demolition, waste-recycling, and remediation specialists, have become the first operator in the UK to take delivery of a full fleet of electric-powered Rubble Master mobile crushers and screens from dealers Red Knight 6.
The bold investment underscores KKB Group's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and embracing innovative, eco-friendly technologies to revolutionize traditional material recycling methods.
To meet the stringent UK quarrying industry and its health and safety guidelines, KKB Group, Rubble Master, and Red Knight 6 went through a highly collaborative process, with regular meetings over 18 months to discuss an electrification setup and machinery telematics to ensure full compliance while futureproofing KKB’s aggregate processing equipment.
‘Our industry has long been associated with significant environmental impact, ranging from high carbon emissions to excessive waste generation,’ said Colin Basi, founder of KKB Group. ‘As sustainability becomes an increasingly pressing concern globally, we are under growing pressure to adopt greener practices. Our decision to integrate this range of Rubble Master electric machines into our operations represents a proactive response to this challenge.’
Andy Shaw, director at KKB Group, also echoed these sentiments. ‘As a business, we know that lowering our environmental footprint is crucial to maintain our place at the forefront of many bid processes. In addition, with this range, we can provide enhanced energy efficiency and therefore reduce overall costs.
‘Many in the industry talk about sustainability and being eco-friendly, but Rubble Master is the only one that has demonstrated a large crusher [RM 120X hybrid] that we can plug into the grid, and a screener [MSC8500e] that can be plugged into the RM 120X hybrid as its power source.’
Paul Donnelly, managing director of Red Knight 6, added: ‘We’ve worked on this deal with KKB Group for over 2 years, alongside Rubble Master and industry experts to ensure what they needed could be done. We are delighted to see four machines in the UK right now, with the remainder to be delivered this year.
‘One of the key benefits of Rubble Master electric machines is their versatility and performance. Whether it's crushing concrete, asphalt, or other materials, these machines deliver exceptional results while operating silently and emitting zero exhaust fumes. This not only improves the working environment for on-site crews but also allows projects to be carried out in urban areas without causing disruptions to nearby residents.’
