Jakto make it a Volvo machine treble
Barnsley-based contractor strengthens mobile plant fleet with three new A25G articulated haulers
JAKTO Excavations have taken delivery of a further three Volvo A25G articulated haulers, increasing the company’s mixed fleet of A25s and A30s to 17 machines.
‘We need reliable machines for our earthmoving, remedial and demolition contracts and in our long experience of owning and operating Volvo articulated haulers, they are without doubt second to none,’ commented Neil Hellewell, md of Jakto. ‘Our oldest trucks are now 15-years old and all except one still have their original powertrains in place – they just keep on running.’
The latest fleet of trucks joins other mixed plant, including excavators, dozers, soil compactors and loading shovels. Specializing in large bulk muck-shifting projects, along with remedial work and demolition, Jakto operate across the north of England and the Midlands.
One such project is a new development to the north-east of Leeds where the company is involved in a one million cubic metre cut-and-fill earthmoving project, which saw all three new arrivals joining the rest of Jakto’s Volvo hauler fleet.
With a carrying capacity of 25 tonnes and heaped capacity of 15.3 cubic metres, the A25G model meets Stage IV Final emissions legislation, thanks to a 318hp six-cylinder Volvo V-ACT engine.
The hauler delivers a maximum torque of 1,942Nm at 1,100 rev/min, which is available at relatively low engine speeds, resulting in good fuel efficiency, high performance, quicker engine response, less engine wear and a longer service life.
The engine is designed to exactly match the Volvo drivetrain, ensuring the best use of power and torque, even in tough working conditions. The Volvo hauler also comes with dynamic and predictive gear selection, which adapts to operating conditions for improved comfort and fuel efficiency.
