J O’Doherty Haulage reduce costs with new Terex Finlay crushers

Two J-1170 jaw crushers deliver cost saving benefits for London-based contractors

J O’DOHERTY Haulage are benefitting from wide-ranging economic savings thanks to the operation of two new Terex Finlay J-1170 jaw crushers at their north London recycling facility.

Supplied by Finlay Plant South East – part of the Finlay Group of companies – the crushers are being used to produce Type 1 recycled aggregate.

Previously, a crusher and screener were used to produce the material, but the new J-1170 jaw crushers are each performing the work of these two machines which is proving to be more frugal in terms of diesel costs.   

James O’Doherty, owner of J O’Doherty Haulage, commented: ‘We are really pleased with the Terex Finlay crushers, as we only need one machine instead of two to produce the recycled aggregate. And as the J-1170 performs well in terms of fuel efficiency we benefit from a double saving.

‘Another advantage is that the machine’s pre-screen takes out the fines before they enter the jaw and that means less wear. We also gain high levels of service and support from Finlay Plant South East with whom we have a long-standing relationship.’

At the heart of the Terex Finlay J-1170 primary jaw crusher is a robust hydrostatically driven jaw chamber, which provides high capacity with large reduction ratios. The jaw chamber configuration can be set up specifically for quarrying applications or processing construction demolition debris.

The jaw chamber is also available with optional hydraulic release; this is important during crushing construction/demolition debris as an automatic overload protection system prevents damage by uncrushable items in the feed material.

In addition the J-1170 crusher features a heavy-duty variable speed VGF and integrated pre-screen that delivers excellent production throughout. Notable options include a variable speed pan feeder and independent pre-screen system.

The machine’s compact size, quick set-up times, ease of transport and user-friendly operational features make the J-1170 suitable for operators of all sizes.
