Italian job success for Develon machines
Unica SpA clearing former factory with mixed fleet of wheel loaders, an ADT and excavators including DX350LC-7
AN impressive fleet of machines from Develon (previously Doosan Construction Equipment) is currently being put through its paces on the long-abandoned area of a former Innocenti factory in the Rubattino district, on the outskirts of Milan in Italy.
Contractors Unica have been working on the 400,000 sq m construction site, one of the most important in the city, where various Develon machines are being used to carry out the demolition of the yards whilst helping to reclaim, screen, and recover materials.
Five excavators including the DX350LC-7, DX340LC-7, DX300LC-7, and DX245NHD-7 (all equipped with grapples, hammers and bucket crushers) have been dismantling the building floors and crushing the reinforced concrete to separate the rebar. The rubble produced is subsequently moved for screening on site by two Doosan DL380-7 wheel loaders and a DA30 articulated dumptruck.
According to Unica, the demolition phase is scheduled for completion in July 2023 and approximately 70,000 cubic metres of recycled aggregates will be used to build the base on which a new logistics centre will be constructed.
The company is no stranger to owning and operating Develon construction equipment products, as Paolo Andreini, president of Unica, explained: ‘For three years we have been using Develon machines with which we are fully satisfied both in economic terms and in meeting our needs, thanks to their undisputed quality. Our Develon fleet consists of over 30 machines, all of which we own, including excavators of all sizes, loaders and dumptrucks.’
Gianmaria Lupis, DMO commercial manager for Lombardy, added: ‘The fully trusted commercial relationship between Unica and DMO is continuing to translate into important equipment orders. All the numerous accessories and attachments we have are also Develon.
‘The excellent relationship with Paolo [Andreini] is also because he knows he can count on the complementary services that DMO delivers, such as fast rental for emergencies and the specialized assistance service on site, which is essential considering the number of Develon machines constantly at work.’
