TAKING the proven full-suspension concept to the next level, Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) say they have broken new ground with the unveiling of a new class hauler as part of the company’s new generation revamp.
Boasting faster cycle times than its rivals, as well as superior efficiency and operator comfort, the all-new A50 articulated hauler is designed to fulfil a need in the market with its innovative technology, unmatched power and modern design.
With a 45-tonne payload, it delivers 10% more productivity and 8% greater fuel efficiency when compared with the previous generation A45GFS – making it a superior solution when working over rough terrain such as in quarries, mines, and large construction sites.
Since Volvo CE pioneered the full hydraulic suspension concept in 2007, countless fleets have been able to revolutionize the productivity and efficiency of their operation thanks to this game-changing feature.
But now the A50 takes the concept to new heights as the only full-suspension machine on the market in its size class. As a result, it offers a significant improvement in cycle times, an increase in hauler production per operator hour, and lower costs when compared to with standard-suspension counterparts.

As part of the new generation update of Volvo articulated haulers, the A50 enjoys all the same features and benefits.
Most notably, it delivers superior traction and stability thanks to the Volvo drivetrain with Terrain Memory, while the Volvo Dynamic Drive feature, with its predictive gear selection, offers improved comfort and fuel efficiency. The new Volvo transmission and axles also generate greater power and productivity across daily operations.
Moreover, nor has it ever been easier for operators to focus on the task in hand thanks to the interactive Volvo Co-Pilot display, while visibility is improved and safety enhanced with upgrades including a wider field of vision that exceeds industry standards.
For the A50, service costs are reduced by up to 6% over 12,000h of operation due to simplified servicing, longer change intervals, and easy component access.
And as with all Volvo articulated haulers, the 45-tonne machine also benefits from a range of Smart Solutions, such as Haul Assist with On-Board Weighing. A suite of supporting digital tools can further boost uptime, reduce fuel consumption, improve site logistics, and maximize productivity across the most challenging of tasks.
The Volvo A50 is being launched in Europe and North American markets, along with its upgraded siblings.
