Hills Quarry Products start 2024 with safety briefings
Company delays opening for ninth year in a row to focus on excellent health and safety
AS part of their commitment to excellent health and safety, Hills Quarry Products delayed the opening of their sites for the ninth year in a row so that employees could attend a morning of health and safety briefings on Tuesday 2 January 2024.
As well as reviewing their health and safety performance from the last 12 months, the briefings were also a chance to set new targets for the year ahead based on employee and auditor feedback, with a renewed focus on near-miss reporting and traffic management.
Production manager Olly Thompson said: ‘The New Year is a good time to reflect on our accomplishments over the course of 2023 and the improvements we have made in health and safety. Our focus for 2024 is to continue to provide excellent health and safety across all of our sites.’
The safety briefings were held across operational sites in Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Dorset, and Devon, where Hills operate sand and gravel quarries and ready-mixed concrete production plants.
