Hewitt Robins expand into waste management
Company looks to make inroads into waste and recycling market with innovative flip-flow screen
HEWITT Robins have recently supplied a state-of-the-art flip-flow screen to a waste-management firm in the north of England, which is said to be delivering impactful results for waste-processing efficiency and cost reduction.
The Hewitt Robins flip-flow screen has been specially engineered to separate fine material from construction and demolition waste with precision, creating two distinct recycled products. By processing waste at the correct aperture, the machine allows the customer to qualify a portion of their waste for a lower landfill tax rate, significantly reducing costs.
At the heart of these capital savings lies the Loss on Ignition (LOI) test. According to Hewitt Robins, this process measures the combustibility of waste material by weighing a sample before and after exposure to high temperatures. Materials with a lower LOI value are subject to a significantly reduced landfill tax rate of £4.05 per tonne, compared to the standard rate of £126.15 per tonne, representing substantial savings for waste management operations.
The most recent project was supplied on a ready-to-install frame, which allowed the customer to successfully install the Hewitt Robins flip-flow screen and immediately reap the benefits. These included reduced time for clearing the decks and more efficient screening than the previous conventional screen.
The success of installing the flip-flow screen highlights Hewitt Robins’ commitment to innovation in waste management, assisting customers in navigating industry challenges while meeting both their operational and environmental goals.
Looking ahead, the OEM intends to solidify its position as a trusted partner in the growing waste-recycling sector, offering advanced screening solutions tailored to meet the evolving demands of the aggregates industry.
