Company strengthens existing footprint and advances focus on circular products in growing Calgary market

HEIDEBERG Materials have acquired assets of Concrete Crushers Inc. (CCI), the largest concrete recycling company in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, for an undisclosed sum. The transaction includes a recycled aggregates yard in south-east Calgary and a contract crushing business with four mobile plants.

‘This bolt-on acquisition is another great example of how we combine growth and sustainability at Heidelberg Materials,’ said Chris Ward, member of the managing board of Heidelberg Materials and chief executive officer of Heidelberg Materials North America.

‘Besides expanding our existing footprint in an attractive market as part of our ongoing portfolio optimization, we are further advancing our focus on sustainable and circular products.’

The recent acquisition is aligned with Heidelberg Materials’ pure-play strategy in the most attractive markets. The company is looking to drive differentiating success across geographies and businesses globally through three distinct value drivers: sustainability, digitalization, and technical excellence.

Heidelberg Materials say they are strongly committed to advancing sustainable products and increasing the circular economy in North America. Just recently, the company announced the completion of its acquisition of Giant Cement Holding Inc., an established cement producer on the US East Coast with a strong focus on the use of waste-derived fuels.
