Heidelberg Materials launch free SHW translator tool
Free online tool boosts efficiency and cuts asphalt specification risks across contracts
HEIDERBERG Materials UK have launched a new free Specification of Highway Works (SHW) translator tool, giving highways professionals a simple way to navigate the recent overhaul of asphalt specifications by National Highways (NH).
The intuitive online tool lets users instantly cross-reference legacy SHW clauses with the updated pavement sections, helping to eliminate confusion and avoid costly specification errors. By streamlining the transition to the new standards, it supports smoother project delivery and protects consistency across both new and ongoing highway contracts.
Designed as a practical, time-saving resource for engineers, contractors, and specifiers, the tool reflects Heidelberg Materials’ continued commitment to innovation, accuracy, and industry-wide support.
‘We developed the translator tool to support our customers through this transition,’ said Adrian Hadley, head of technical for asphalts and aggregates at Heidelberg Materials UK. ‘Our translator tool includes a reverse search function, allowing users to find updated sections from legacy clauses and vice versa, making it as straightforward as possible to work confidently with the new asphalt specifications.’
