Hitachi Construction Machinery UK (HCMUK) will be holding an auction for a 1985 Hitachi UH063 crawler excavator as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations, with the winner to be announced at Hillhead 2022.

All proceeds from the auction will go to the Lighthouse Club construction industry charity, which provides emotional, physical, and financial well-being support to construction workers and their families.

The unique vintage machine, which will be given a new lease of life by HCMUK’s Hitachi-trained engineers at the Hitachi Connected Technology department in the North East, as well as a fresh paint job, will be on display on the HCMUK stand at Hillhead for customers and fans to view.

Commenting on the auction, Mark Turnham, national director of sales and marketing at HCMUK, said: ‘Through this auction, we’re delighted to be able to support such an important charity, one that does so much for those in the construction industry, and to also celebrate one of the world’s most iconic excavators, the Hitachi UHO63.’

Bids for the machine will be taken by email on Tuesday 21 June, with the winner being announced at Hillhead on Wednesday 22 June.
